IAN MALONEY CELLO
Ian Maloney is a student of Madeleine Golz at the Pre-college Division of the Manhattan School of Music, and The Thurnauer School of Music where he began cello lessons at age three. Ian is a uniquely talented multi-instrumentalist who also plays the piano and trumpet, and composes. Ian has won both national and international music competitions including the Lyra Youth Music Competition, Washington Heights Chamber Orchestra Concerto Competition, Adelphi Chamber Orchestra Concerto Competition, International Virtuoso Competition, Manhattan School of Music Concerto and Chamber Music Competitions, American Protégé International Concerto Competition, and New York International Artists Cello Competition. He has been a featured soloist with the Mid-Atlantic Chamber Orchestra, New York Chamber Players, 92Y Orchestra, Ensemble 212, NJCU Orchestra, and New York Concerti Sinfonietta at Carnegie Hall.
He has performed in Master Classes for cellists, Paul Katz, David Finckel, Bonnie Hampton, Steven Doane, Colin Carr, and Clive Greensmith. Ian has been featured on NPR’s From the Top, and in From the Top music videos, with Brooklyn’s Project Trio, and with violinist Joshua Bell. During the Summer, Ian attends Music@Menlo, an international chamber music festival in Atherton, California. He lives in Hackensack, NJ and attends Bergen County Academies.
