RAGGA PETURSDOTTIR   VIOLIN

Violinist Ragga Petursdottir's elegant and soulful performances have been heard across the globe in countries such as the United States, the Netherlands, China, South Korea, Germany, and Iceland. As a highly sought-after musician and teacher in the New York City area, Ms. Petursdottir is currently a member of the American Ballet Theatre Orchestra and the American Symphony Orchestra, in addition to maintaining her own notable studio. Ms. Petursdottir was a member of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, and has performed with the New York City Ballet and Opera Orchestras, the Westchester Philharmonic, Musica Viva Orchestra, the Gotham Chamber Opera, and as a principal player of the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra.


A dedicated chamber musician, Ms. Petursdottir is the violinist and Artistic Director of the Greenburgh Chamber Players and the Jewish Arts Ensemble of New York. Festival appearances include the Summit Music Festival and Kutztown University Summer Chamber Music Festival. She was also a member of the Reykjavik String Quartet, has performed with the Greenwich and Saratoga Chamber Players, and toured Europe with the TransAtlantic Ensemble. Recent solo engagements include a performance of Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante with her husband and violist, Junah Chung, in Seoul. Ms. Petursdottir holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the Manhattan School of Music, where she studied with Oleg Krysa and Ani Kavafian. Ragga lives in Westchester with her husband Junah and their hree cats. She likes playing golf in her spear time.
