MISSION BridgeMusik creates opportunities for school-aged music students through mentoring,
collaboration and performances with world-class concert artists in community venues.
BRIDGEMUSIK FOUNDERS
BridgeMusik was founded in 2018 by Rockland County residents,
Tanya Witek and Krystof Witek. In addition to being professional
musicians who hold doctorates in Musical Arts from the Juilliard School, the Witeks were committed to making a musical contribution to the community. BridgeMusik was created as a year-long program to provide affordable and empowering classical music opportunities for school-aged students through mentoring, collaborations and performances with renowned concert artists in local venues. Enrollment is open to all students and placement is made in consultation with the student’s music teacher.
PUBLIC EVENTS
Since July of 2018, BridgeMusik has presented over fifty public events, and programs have included approximately 300 student participants, ages 5-18, as well as a faculty of over 60 acclaimed musicians. BridgeMusik outdoor concerts at Rockland County's historic venues have attracted thousands of audience members.
VIRTUAL ACTIVITIES
BridgeMusik launched virtual activities beginning in the spring of 2020. BridgeMusik also remains committed to live performance. BridgeMusik’s ReStart Rockland Arts Series included eleven free concerts reaching approximately 1500 audience members between May and August, 2021. The 2021 summer concerts marked the first live performances since the pandemic began for many of the artists - both students and professionals.
BRIDGEMUSIK ARTISTS AND STUDENTS
The professional artists featured by BridgeMusik include musicians from Lincoln Center and Broadway orchestras and are faculty members from Manhattan School of Music, New York University, Purchase College and The Juilliard School. BridgeMusik often presents new works by living American composers including Amanda Harberg, Nicole Mitchell, Beata Moon, Pedro Giraudo and Philip Wharton. BridgeMusik students are drawn from throughout Rockland and Westchester County, but the program attracts students from all over the region.
JOHN WILLIAMS ON BRIDGEMUSIK
American composer and five-time Oscar winner, John Williams has congratulated BridgeMusik for “their important work in fostering and shaping the artistic lives of so many promising musicians. Their dedication to music education and mentoring is a vital contribution to the future of the arts in America.”
