THE STORY OF TANGO:
a Virtual Concert of Music, Art and Storytelling

June 7, 2020

We were thrilled to present a feature-long Virtual Concert "The Story of Tango" on our YouTube and Vimeo Channels. The concert marked the return of Latin Grammy-winner Pedro Giraudo and his acclaimed Tango Trio. The Trio (with Rodolfo Marcelo Zanetti Vía bandoneon and Ahmed Alom Vega piano) was joined by BridgeMusik musicians from Lincoln Center and Broadway orchestras: Tanya Witek (flute), Krystof Witek and Kevin Marty Matson (violin), Desiree Elsevier (viola) and Fred Zlotkin (cello). The cast of over 80 participants, included many special guest performers such as Bob McGrath from Sesame Street , Juilliard faculty member Carol Wincenc (flute), Pao-Chieh Tseng (flute), Melissa Aleles (flute), Maia Schmidt (violin), Elizabeth Krause (violin), Wendy Law (cello), Erik Bjorkman (cello), John Bjorkman (electric bass), Halley Gilbert (voice), Keith Buterbaugh (voice) and talented students from our local schools.

The program traced the history of the TANGO through musical, visual and verbal storytelling. The footage was a combination of brand new recordings created by the artists from their quarantines around the world, as well as footage which was recorded live in 2019 in the beautiful acoustics of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Pearl River, NY.

The broadcast premiered free for anyone to enjoy on our YouTube and Video Channels. Please stay tuned, subscribe to our media channels to learn about future events.
