Miya Omori Yamada Board of Directors
Miya Omori Yamada grew up in Southern California and began playing the piano at a young age, adding the violin in her later elementary years. A lover of music of all genres, but especially the classical arts, she enjoys advocating for the passion to learn music and performance for the coming generation. She received her bachelor’s from Smith College, her Masters in Counseling and Consulting Psychology, and Doctorate in Human Development and Psychology from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education. After an eclectic international career in Educational Consulting, Psychotherapy, and therapeutic services serving underserved communities, she currently, works at an Independent School as a school psychologist. She is an advocate of DEIB work and keeps up to date with the latest trends and research through her profession. Most of all, however, she enjoys watching her son’s growth and joy as a participant in the BridgeMusik’s Summer Festivals alongside the private lessons he has been taking since he was 4 years old.
Miya has served on the Board of Directors of The Paper Bag Players, the Harvard Alumni Association, the Harvard Graduate School of Education Alumni Council, and was a Nominee for the Elected Board of Directors for the Harvard Alumni Association. She currently lives with the 3 loves of her life, her husband, son and 90 year old father who is also an avid music lover and still enjoying playing the trumpet! In her free time, she tries to enjoy the many musical and arts offerings in New York City, watching her son play baseball (when not playing the violin!), and trying out fun new recipes in her small NYC kitchen.
