Frequently Asked Questions

What types of performance experiences are included in the festival?

The festival will include three different types of performance experience:

1. Solo
Students should bring a piece they are currently working on in their private lessons with the goal of having the piece 'performance-ready' by the masterclass dates. They will rehearse this with our pianist and perform in a masterclass, senior home community concert and at the final Young Artist concert.

2. Chamber Music Group (Optional for additional fee)
If chamber music is selected, the student will be placed in a small chamber group with students of a similar level/age. If they have a request to be placed with a friend we will try to accommodate. We will schedule the rehearsals for these groups after enrollment is complete. Student chamber groups will perform on a Young Artist concert alongside faculty members.

3. Large ensemble (Festival Orchestra)
The Festival Orchestra will play 1-2 pieces with everyone in the Festival including some of the faculty members. Student ensemble will also have an additional opportunity (at no extra cost) to perform in the Faculty Artist Chamber Concert on October 27.

Describe the performance settings.

The performance experiences will be in small group masterclass settings, at community senior homes in NY and NJ, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Pearl River, NY and at the beautiful Quincy Hall at the Union Arts Center in Sparkill, NY.

Can we recommend a friend to join the Festival?

Please let us know if your child has a friend who might be interested in this kind of experience. We will accept students (pending availability) upon recommendation from their private teacher or school music director.

My child would like to be placed in a chamber group with their friend or sibling. Is this possible?

We will do our best to accommodate any requests. Please email us at info@bridgemusik.com

Should my student bring a new solo piece to prepare during the festival?

Students should bring a piece they are working on in their private lessons with the goal of having the piece 'performance-ready' by the masterclass dates. Having a performance goal early in the school year will be motivating and will jumpstart the student's musical progress!
